I recently had the opportunity to stay at the Red Lion, a Grade II listed tavern located in the heart of Chipping Campden, while attending a wedding nearby. The value proposition of this establishment is noteworthy. Situated just a few yards from local shops, it offers convenience alongside a charming ambiance. My room, Jethro, featured tasteful furnishings and a spacious layout, including a comfortable bed that ensured restful nights. The external entrance provided added privacy, a thoughtful design choice. The en-suite bathroom was well-equipped, boasting a claw-footed bath and a large shower, complemented by generous shelf space for toiletries-a practical touch. The pub garden offers a lovely setting to relax, and the staff's warm hospitality significantly enhances the experience. Added conveniences like free Wi-Fi in the rooms, tea and coffee facilities, and a car park make it a seamless choice for travelers. Breakfast was adequately satisfying, making for an enjoyable start to the day. In terms of luxury versus value, while the experience may not be at the highest echelon of extravagance, the balance makes it a practical option for those seeking comfort and accessibility. The Red Lion stands as a smart choice for visitors exploring this captivating region.
